1932 ~ 2016

Our beloved father, brother, uncle, and grandfather Glenn Maxwell Davis, age 83, passed away February 27th, 2016 at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, UT from complications caused by multiple myeloma cancer.

Glenn was born September 4th, 1932 in Mohrland, Utah to LeRoy Payton Davis and Ruth Helen Rons. He grew up in the central Utah mining community of Hiawatha where he first developed his love of the great outdoors. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and camper throughout his life. After four years active duty in the US Navy (1951-1955), Glenn attended Utah State University graduating in 1960 with a degree in Biology. He went to work for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources where he was employed for 34 years as a fisheries biologist.

In 1967, Glenn married Dawn Joan Allred, a beautiful schoolteacher from Grantsville, UT who was working in Price. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City temple in 1976. They made their home together in Granger (West Valley City) until Joan's untimely death in 2005.

As a father, Glenn set an example of integrity and hard work. He provided financial support and emotional encouragement to his children as they pursued their interests-whether in music, sports, cosmetology training, higher education, or starting a business. He also transmitted a love of nature to the many Boy Scouts he mentored and to his family.

Upon retiring from the "Fish and Game," Glenn spent much of his time camping, fishing, gardening, caring for his numerous fruit trees, canning peaches and tomatoes, and cooking special Dutch-oven dinners for the family. He maintained ties with several Hiawatha friends living in the Salt Lake City area and looked forward to regular breakfasts with them. He also served for five years as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple.

Preceded in death by his wife Joan Allred Davis, his brother LeRoy Conrad Davis (killed in action, 1943) and his sisters Hazel Marie and Fern Stella. Survived by his sister Faun Cole of Douglas, WY, his brother Gary Davis of Albuquerque, NM; his four children Daniel, Timothy (Fumi), Anthony (Nicole), and Amanda; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:00 am at the LDS chapel located at 3150 W. Whitehall Dr. (3985 S.) in West Valley City, UT with a viewing 1 hour prior to services. Friends may attend an additional viewing Friday, March 4th from 6-8 pm at the McDougal Funeral Home (4330 Redwood Rd). Interment will take place at Valley View Memorial Park.

Evelyn Christensen Petty, age 95, passed away January 8, 2016 in Taylorsville, Utah of conditions due to age. Born March 4, 1920 in Castlegate, Utah, 10th child of Neils Christian Christensen and Helga Erickson. Married to Boyd Albert Petty on November 6, 1942 in Hiawatha, Utah, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 16, 1954.
All her life, loved being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as visiting teacher, teacher, leader and music chorister, pianist and choir member. Enjoyed serving in the Jordan River Temple Baptistry for 25 years.
Survived by son, Stanley Boyd Petty and wife Vicky, Magna; daughter, Lorraine Nielsen and husband John, Logan; and son Douglas Craig Petty and wife Gayla, Flower Mound, Texas; 18 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 12 at 11:00 am at the Granger Ward, 2850 W. 3835 So. West Valley City, Utah, 84119. Friends may call Monday, January 11, 2016, 6:00-8:00 pm at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 So. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah or at the Granger Ward Tuesday,10:00-10:45 am prior to the funeral. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.

James Albert Hoopes obituary

James Alfred Hoopes was called home unexpectedly on December 28, 2015, in Phoenix, Arizona. James lovingly known as Jimmie is survived by his wife, Sandi Hoopes of Lyman, Wyoming; Children, James D. (Carol) Hoopes, Rick (Debby) Hoopes, Pam (Bob) Brown all of Lyman, Wyoming, Randy (Corrine) Hoopes of Roy, Utah, Kris (Merrill) Stringer of Robertson, Wyoming, Cliff (Donna) Hoopes of Fort Bridger, Wyoming, and Kari (John) Combs of Queen Creek, Arizona. James is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews as well as his only surviving sister-in-law, Dorothy Livingston of Price, Utah.  Additionally, his legacy continues in the hearts of 26 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 30 great-great-grandchildren, and his service dog Maggie.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Burl and Mildred Hoopes of Lyman, Wyoming, five siblings, Reed Livingston, Leona Thomas, Mildred Siddoway, Dorothy Wilder, and Burl Hoopes, as well as his grandson Jeremy Hoopes, his great-granddaughter Ashlee Saunders, and his loving pet and eighth child Rogue. Jimmie was born on June 22, 1929 in Lyman, Wyoming to Burl O. and Mildred Hoopes.  He married the love of his life, Sandi Padgett, legally on May 27, 1975.  The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah Temple on August 4, 1980.  Their lives took form in Lyman, Wyoming where he ran heavy equipment for construction but his love was shearing sheep which he pursued for 61 years.  He taught all of his children, and then grandchildren how to work hard. His children remember him as a loving, driven, and family oriented man who encouraged them to follow their dreams. Jimmie was accomplished in shearing sheep and was the Vice President, and later on President of the Sheep Shearer’s Union for 26 years.  He was the oldest member of the Sheep Shearer’s Union until his death.  Shearing sheep was a true passion for Jimmie. Over his many years of working sheep, he sheared over one million collectively, and two million including tagging sheep.  He also volunteered his time to shearing sheep for local 4-H participants.  Jimmie was an active member of the LDS Church and a Home Teacher for 32 years. He never once missed a visit.  Jimmie had a love of travel and the outdoors.  He taught all of his children and grandchildren to hunt and fish. He would often take them on picnics, a long drive, and to hunt rocks.   Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2015 at 1pm at the Lyman LDS Stake Center in Urie.  Viewing will be held Sunday evening at the church from 6 to 8pm as well as 1 hour prior to the service on Monday.  Interment will follow at the Lyman, Wyoming Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up at Wells Fargo Bank for Jim Hoopes Memorial Fund to benefit his wife Sandi, as he would have wanted.

Robert Wilde September 23, 1929 - December 11, 2015 Robert Earl Wilde, 86, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015. Funeral Services for Robert will be held Wednesday, December 16th, at 12:00 noon, at the Garden Cove Ward Chapel, 1945 West 9000 South, West Jordan, Utah, where a Viewing will be held prior from 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Interment in Provo City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.

Love.  You did it so perfectly for 86 years. Born September 23, 1929 to Earl Heber and Loyas Ora Christensen Wilde, that love filled the arms of your dear parents.  On December 11, 2015 it was that love we felt as you left the arms of your sweetheart and family here on earth, and were welcomed with warm embrace by your parents, brothers, sister, and grand-daughter.  Robert Earl Wilde, we will forever cherish you as our husband, father, and grandpa.
From your childhood in Hiawatha, raising your family in Provo, and your new home in West Jordan, your imaginative and infectious personality created life-long friendships you cherished and celebrated.  You had a great love for country as evidenced by your honorable service to the Air Force and your career as a US Postal worker.  Your desire to serve others drew you to these positions and we will always remember your excitement and personal touch in delivering call letters to missionary families.  
Your love for competition was visible in cheering for BYU, watching the NY Yankees, playing golf, and beating your family in cards with a grin that could not be contained.  We would gladly lose one last time to see that smile again.
Above all, your love of family and your Savior guided everything you did.  Your dedication to Christ as an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a servant of the Lord in His Temple stands as an example for us.  You loved your wife, Renee Dawn Worthen more than life itself and prepared for that special day on June 24, 1955 when you were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Temple.  Your three children, Mitchell (Jennifer), Stuart (Jamie), and Debbie (Bob) were your greatest accomplishment and your grandchildren your pride and joy. How grateful we are for your example of humility, selflessness, humor, loyalty and service.  We will miss you and always strive to love as you did.
