LAWRENCE - Willis K. Wilson, born Jan. 1, 1926 in Somis, CA to Frank & Margaret Stevenson Wilson, passed away on Feb. 9, 2014 in his home in Lawrence. His wife of 70 years, Utahna Tess Allred, married Dec. 1, 1943 in Cleveland was by his side, as always...
Willis entered the navy in February 1944. He served aboard the USS Sarasota in the South Pacific as a gunner as well as the best cook on board. His coal mining career consisted of 27 years with US Fuel Hiawatha Coal Mine, which included a world record on a continuous miner. Later, he continued in the mining industry with American Coal Co., but his passion was farming, ranching and livestock, both with beef cattle and later Holstein heifers. Despite his demanding schedule, he found time to serve his community on the Huntington Cleveland Water Board, North Emery Water Board, Emery County Planning & Zoning and the Farm Bureau Board. He was an active member of the LDS church and served in both the Stake and Ward levels. Despite a mere 8th grade education, his accomplishments were remarkable and astounding. He had too much to do, but he taught his kids to saddle their own horse and carry their own weight; he taught his grandkids to laugh out loud and be responsible for their own actions, and taught his whole family to face adversity with a good attitude. He was a mentor, an inspiration and had an impact on everyone he met. He is survived by his wife Utahna, and his children: Kay (Steve) Williams, Bob (Diana), Rod (Ellen) and Tona Jo (Kevin) Frazier, 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his mother, Margaret, his father, Frank, his brothers, William Frank (Bill) MIA in Gradacanal, Robert Sidly (Dick) killed in Salzberg Austria, and great-great granddaughter Emma Jo Evertson. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at noon at the Huntington 5th Ward Chapel in Huntington. A viewing will be held at the Heritage Funeral Home, 620 N. Main in Huntington on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014 from 6-8 pm and Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014 at the Huntington 5th Ward Building one hour prior to service. Our loving sister, friend, aunt and totally wonderful lady, Kaye Leamaster, 58, passed away peacefully, January 21, 2014 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo while surrounded by family and friends. She was born June 13, 1955 in Price, Utah to John "Jack" Leamaster and Shirley A. Kirby. Kaye fought a very courageous battle of lifelong illnesses and she never once complained about her health issues. She had a powerful will to live and a few doctors have even called her a "miracle in the making." Kaye was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a graduate of Emery High School Class of 1973. She worked for Utah Power & Light at the Huntington Plant for over 30 years. Her job was a very important part of her life and she often spoke about the lasting friendships that she made at work. Kaye loved everyone and she had a faithful spirit. Her heart was filled with genuine love and she shared a special love for babies. She is survived by her sisters, Carol (Rick) Callor, Eagle, ID, Jon (Terry) Brown, Manitou, KY; special friends, Kathy and Gaylene; nieces and nephews, Misty Callor, Cally Davis, Carrie Callor, Kristi Grant, Beth Brown, Alisha Brown, Dean Davis, Doug Callor, Johnathon Brown, Jeffery Brown, Joseph Brown, Dustin Brown, Steve Grant; great-nephews and great-nieces, Kenny Davis, A.J. Callor, Andrew Callor, Ayden Callor, Andon Callor, Nicholas Grant, Zackory Brown, Xander Brown, Kali Brown, Kaylee Vogel and Rayven Grant; and Craig's two children, Brian and Shannon. She was preceded in death by her parents, and infant son, Riley. Kaye loved hats of all kinds. Upon her request please wear a hat to honor her memory. HELPER - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and neighbor, William W. "Bill" Branson, age 87, passed away peacefully Jan. 24, 2014 at the Beehive Home in Price.
He was born Jan. 20, 1927 in Castle Dale to William and Zelpha Peterson Branson. On Sept. 4, 1953, Bill married Faye Fox and they made their home in Helper. Bill attended schools in Castle Dale and graduated from Central High. On his 18th birthday he signed up for the Navy and was sent to Camp Elliot in San Diego. Calif. He later went onto Treasure Island, another Naval Facility on the San Francisco Bay. In 1947, Bill became an accomplished pilot. He flew a Taylorcraft, several Cessna's including the 150, 170 and 185, the Aeronca, the PT-19 and AT-6. He flew over 1900 hours. In 1947, Bill went to work for Utah Power and Light at the Price Office. During his career, he was a heavy equipment operator for eight years. He worked at the Castle Gate Power Plant for 19 years as an Auxiliary and Board Operator. While at the Huntington Power Plant, he was a Supervisor of the Training Department for Operations, Testing, Mechanics, and Instrumentation. In 1983, he retired after 36 years of dedicated service. Bill helped inspire CEU in building a museum, and he is a part of what it has become today. Bill's family, associates and lifelong friends will remember him as an avid outdoorsman, rock hound, lapadarist, gemologist, mountain man, gold dredger, hunter, fisherman, and everyone's friend! His ability to talk to people and make friends has blessed the lives of many. Bill and Faye's home and rock shop have always been a welcoming place for strangers and friends. In 2000, Bill suffered a de-habilitating stroke. Through his suffering, he has experienced true devotion, love, commitment, and compassion from his wife. Faye took excellent care of him in their home for eight years, and has been with him through it all. She's been a great example of what love is to her family and her husband. Too many memories to share, too many experiences surround this man who lived "Larger than Life." Bill left footprints in our hearts and everywhere he went. His life was full of adventure. He is survived by his wife, Faye Branson; sons, William Bevan (Joyce) Branson, Jason Loran (Trina) Branson; grandchildren, William Brock (Kasslie) Branson, James Brett Branson, Heather Dawn (Eric) Jensen, Jennifer Lyn (Kevin) Jensen, Lacey Loran (Levi) Jensen; great-grandchildren, Zane and Joss Jensen; brother, Lane (Judy) Branson. He was preceded in death by his parents, William W. Branson, Sr., Zelpha Irene Peterson Branson Anderson; step-father, Loran Anderson; sisters, Imo Wray Branson, Mary Louise Branson Blanc; and brother, James B. Branson. Funeral service, Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price.
