Oh, I do remember Nita Hampshire...what a wonderful lady. I remember how well she played the piano; she was truly a very musical lady, writing several songs that I knew of. My friends and classmates my age will remember that every morning before our classes began in our school building, we all met in the auditorium/cultural hall...we all stood and sang several songs as she played the piano...especially patriotic song during World War II. One song I remember was "There Is No Streak of Yellow in the Red, White & Blue." I think I remember all the words. Nita Hampshire's patriotism rubbed off on all of us during those War Years. She also wrote the special song about Hiawatha: "Hiawatha, Hiawatha, We Are Ever True To"...etc. I remember that song too. In later years, my Mom & Dad moved to Silk Stocking Row in the house that Johnny & Lee Reid lived in...next to Hampshires. Hampshires were good neighbors. Many times through the years, I have thought about Nita Hampshire and her many talents. She was a wonderful lady! Irene Christensen Dougherty
