HUNTINGTON - Bert "Butch" Leamaster, age 81, passed away May 15, 2013 at his home in Huntington. Bert was born Aug. 12, 1931 in Hiawatha to Delbert and Mary Marie Ungerman Leamaster. He married Janet Nielson on Nov. 13, 1954 in Huntington. They then moved to Las Vegas, Nev., where they raised their family. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on April 9, 2011. Janet passed away later that same year. Bert moved to Huntington at the age of 16. He graduated from North Emery High School. He and his brother, Fon, enlisted together in the U.S. Navy where they proudly served during the Korean Conflict. Bert was a sheet metal worker by trade, and was a member of the Local 88 Sheet Metal Union retiring in 1998. Following retirement, they moved back home to Huntington. He was a handyman who could fix anything. He enjoyed the outdoors where he loved to hunt, fish, and camp. Bert was a proud member of the American Legion Post #73. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Bert is survived by his children: Joni (Steve) Miller of Mapleton, Kelly (Steve) Wilson, Huntington, Ronni (Tony) Torre, Huntington, and Cassie Brown, Las Vegas, Nev; siblings, Reid "Fon" Leamaster, Huntington and Faye Leamaster, Las Vegas, Nev; 10 grandchildren: Michael Stipanov, Stevoni Doyle, Brandon Skeem, Kris Barker, Kalleen Barker-Young, Bryan Torre, Dominick Torre, Colton Torre, Wade Brown, and Megan Brown-Munford; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Janet; sister, Millie; sister-in-law, Ramona; nephews, Vic and Del Leamaster; and nieces, Sherri Brown and Dawn Leamaster. Funeral services were held Monday, May 20, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington LDS 1st and 5th Ward Chapel There was a viewing Sunday, May 19 at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and on Monday at the church. Interment was in the Huntington City Cemetery. Services were in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Bert at www.fausettmortuary.com.
