PRICE - Devon C. Oliver, age 75, passed peacefully Jan. 10, 2014 in Price, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 13, 1938 in Price to Cleland W. and Anona Ann Brasher Oliver. Devon was a longtime resident of Carbon County and a graduate of Carbon High School. He married Glenda Sorenson, they later divorced. He honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1966. After returning from the service, he married the love his life Pearl Barnett Thompson on July 16, 1971. Devon was a dedicated and tireless worker who touched the hearts of many. He was employed with Utah Power and Light for 20 years, where he was blessed with many dear friends. After retiring from UP&L, Devon went to work for the US Forest Service. Devon loved working outdoors and this was a job that he thoroughly enjoyed. Devon was passionate about horses and his favorite breeds were Appaloosa and Quarter horses. He loved showing horses, watching bull riding, shoeing horses or anything to do with horses. He was talented in dutch oven cooking and enjoyed putting on a lamb roast for family and friends. Camping and spending time with his kids and grand kids was one of the highlights of his life. Once a year he liked to help out his community by being one of Santa's Helpers. His smile, smooches and contagious laugh will be truly missed. He is survived by his wife, Pearl Oliver; daughters, Heidi Oliver, Heather (Dave) Wynn; siblings, Bonnie (Parley) Johnson, Lynn (Juanita) Oliver; four grandchildren, Danielle, Josh, Montana and Jake; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, infant sister, and son Matthew Thompson. Funeral service, Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Devon at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
