PRICE-Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Lloyd Fredrick “Fred” Crogan, age 96, passed away April 4, 2013 at Pinnacle Care and Rehabilitation in Price.
He was born September 28, 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lloyd Francis and Catherine Virginia Clark Crogan.
Fred was a longtime resident of Carbon County where he grew up in Hiawatha. He attended Wasatch Academy, graduated from Carbon High School in 1935 and furthered his education at BYU. Honorably served his country in the U.S. Army/Air Corp during World War II where he was a gunner on a B17 in the South Pacific. After returning from the service, he married Carol “Kelly” Larsen in Hiawatha on May 29, 1947.
His working career began as a railroad agent for Utah Railway. He later went to work for US Steel in Dragerton in the accounting office and eventually retired from the preparation plant in Wellington as a coal analyst. Fred lived a very colorful life and after his retirement he went to work for Dan Garber delivering parts for Price Mine Service.
He was a member of Price Elks Lodge #1550 where he served as treasurer for 10 years. Fred was also a member of Carbon Lodge # 16 F. & A.M. His greatest joy in life was his family and he especially enjoyed being “Papa” to Marisa. Fred touched the hearts of many and will be dearly missed by his family and a community of friends.
Survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Kelly Crogan; son, Steven Crogan, daughter, Carrie (Vernon) White, all of Price; six grandchildren, Derrick (Patricia) White, Chad (Becky) White, Brooke (Dan) Burke, Darin (Diana) White, Hayley (Brandon) Bower, Marisa White; great grandchildren, Tyler White, Kiersten Garlock, Dylan White, Kolton Porter, Dagan White, Reagen Bower, Kristen White, Keylee Bower, Jamison Bower, Dylan and Logan White; cousins, Dan (Ranae) Garber, Price; James (Beth) Garber, Kearns.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service, Monday, April 8, 2013, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street-Price). Family will be at Mitchell’s Monday one hour prior to services. Interment, Price City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Fred at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
