Hilda Rae Hale Anderson Thomas

Angel Mother
Hilda Rae Hale Thomas- loving wife, angel mother and beloved grandmother and great grandmother-returned to the arms of her Heavenly Father and Mother December 19, 2013 after an extended illness.
Hilda was born in Oakley, Idaho, on August 30, 1928 to loving parents, Wallace A. and Annie Penola Dayley Hale. She was the 9th of ten children. She attended Brigham Young University for two years then transferred to Utah State University where she received her degree in Home Economics. While teaching in Huntington, Utah, she met Gail Q. Anderson. They were married on August 24, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had three children, whom she adored, served and sacrificed for until her last breath; Kathryn Rae, David Gail and Anna Colleen. They were later divorced. She was a phenomenal Home Economics teacher for 27 years at Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah. Besides teaching foods and sewing she received advanced training in and taught Child Development, Interior Design and Vocational Foods. She served as the advisor for the FHA club for many years. She loved teaching and her students.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was faithful her entire life. She not only taught her children the Gospel but was an exemplar in service. She served in many positions in the church and served two missions after her retirement- one to the Denver Temple Mission and the other to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. While serving the second mission she met the 'Love of Her Life', Harold B. Thomas. They were married on November 7, 1993, in the Jordan River Temple. Through this marriage she was able to inherit seven more children whom she loved dearly. Harold promised her 20 years and kept that promise as they celebrated their 20th anniversary this year. Hilda loved to dance, and Harold took her dancing every chance he could. They served as temple workers together in the Jordan River LDS Temple. They loved spending time with their children's families. Harold loved and was beloved of her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy in life was family. Kathryn says BYU sports was a close second; Dave says U of U sports was a close second and Colleen is fine with either.
Hilda is survived by her sweetheart husband, Harold, and 'their' children: Kathryn Anderson Minster (Reid), David Anderson (Sharon), Colleen Anderson Bean (Tim), Dlorah Thomas Henson(Dean), Dennis Thomas (Peggy), Kaye Thomas Clayton (Dave), Dale Thomas (Shauna), Boyd Thomas, (Danna), Lynn Thomas (Cassie) and Rosemary Thomas Bridges (Dwight). She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 26+ great-grandchildren as well as Harold's extended family; Siblings - Whitney D. Hale, Murray, UT; Anna Lou Bair, Heyburn, ID; Claire Spence, West Virginia; and Fielding Hale, Oakley, ID. Preceded in death by her parents, great- grandson, Logan Grant; Siblings Relia Paskett, Ronald Hale, Eliphet Hale , Verla Martindale, and Yvonne Reed.
Goodbye, Angel Mother. Our lifelong refrain has been and will ever be, "All that I am, or hope to be, I owe to my Angel Mother." -Abraham Lincoln.

Dean Gust Petrulas

1936 ~ 2013
I was born in Hiawatha, Utah to parents George and Elizabeth (Katsufakis) Petrulakis on August 10, 1936 where I spent seventeen of my formative years. I attended and graduated from (the old) Carbon High School where I played sports, but became a casualty, as many were, of favoritism by a certain coach!!
I attended the University of Utah for a year and half. I played freshman basketball and traveled with the baseball team. In the interim I transferred to and graduated from Westminster College where I played basketball for three years and was captain my senior year! My college experience was energetically rewarding and fulfilling, which relates to an excellent job history. Member of the Greek Orthodox Church.
My working career began at Packaging Corporation of America, Salt Lake City, where I held various positions. After eight years I became the General Manager of Folding Carton Division. Later I solicited employment with American Pad and Paper (Ampad) North Salt Lake, where I was hired as Plant Manager, later becoming General Manager and Manufacturing Manager-Western Region. I retired after as many might know, American Pad and Paper is one of the companies that Mitt Romney (Bain Capital) and his hit men ruined! Consequently Ampad no longer exists in North Salt Lake or Utah, which is despicable!
I was introduced to golf which agreeably was a hate/love relationship! I did have a hole in one that came with many good/bad scores. But first and foremost I met and played with many outstanding friends.
I was asked many times "why I didn't get married" my stock answer was "I couldn't afford the divorce!" But I did meet the love of my life and soul mate, Judy Morley with whom I spent many enjoyable years. Thank you Judy for being "just Judy"
I am survived by my sister in law Ursula, St. George, Ut., sister in law Anna, Modesto, Ca., nephews George (Karna) Modesto, Ca., Nick (Karen) Alameda, Ca., Dean (Laura) Modesto, Ca., nieces Elizabeth, Kristina, Adrianna, Eleni and nephew Andoni and Judy Morley, Fountain Green, Ut.
Preceded in death by parents, brothers Tony and Pete, sister Sylvia, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., in the Prophet Elias Church, 5335 South Highland Drive, Holladay, Ut. Friends and family may call Friday, October 25, 2013 at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary 2350 East 1300 South from 6-8 p.m. Trisagion service at 7:00 p.m. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

a Skilled Nursing Care unit in Palo Alto, CA. She was a world class Dietitian, a
Super  Institution Manager, and a wonderful Mother, and my Soul Mate!

She was the daughter of Frank E. and Grace G.Gleason and her sister,Shirley G.Jones lives in Nashville, TN (who is on your e-mail list.)They grew up in Hiawatha. I grew up in Spring Canyon before my father moved to Hiawatha.
It was a long way to take Hillie to a dance in Price, and even a longer way to court her in New York where they moved from Hiawatha during World War II.,which I did two times by train, once with a fraternity pin and once with a diamond ring!
After her graduation from Cornell, she came back to Utah on a Troop Train with
Violin in hand and we were married in the ADPI Sorority house at the U of U while I was in Medical School. In 1944.

great grandchildren, and two more on the way.
