September 8, 1932 ~ February 27, 2015
Price, Utah-Ray S. Christensen, 82, passed away February 27, 2015 after a very short, intense battle with pancreatic and liver cancer.
He was born September 8, 1932 in Mohrland, Utah, which is now a ghost town. His parents Vic and Clara Sumsion Christensen raised Ray in Kenilworth, Utah with his four brothers, Jack (deceased), Ted, Ross, and Clyde.
On September 3, 1953 he married the love of his life, Rosalie Bertot Christensen. She was his angel and sweetheart for 58 years. At age 15 he used his brother's birth certificate and entered the Marine Corp serving in the Korean War for four years, returning at the age of 19. He met and married Rosalie at age 21 and they raised three kids: Denise (Dee Dee), Karen, and John.
He spent over three decades in the local coal mining industry, including Kaiser Steel, Braztah, Soldier Creek Coal, and finishing at Emery Mining Corp. His happiest times throughout his childhood and adult life were spent at Fish Lake, Utah with family and friends. He was a dedicated fisherman, who could be spotted in his boat wearing his straw hat and smoking his pipe while patiently fishing for that elusive Big Mac.
He is survived by his children, Dee-Dee (Bruce) Lindsay, Salina, and their children Krysta (Jim) Shultz; Kyle (Sarah) and great grandchild Delaney; Karen (Izzy) Plarisan, Roseville, California, and their children Miles, Karly (Greg) Sahr, TJ; John (Cathy) Christensen, Price, and their children Jack and Emma; brothers Ted (Nola Myrl); Ross (Peggy), and Clyde (Nancy).
