Emilie Mae Wilde Chandler, 93, of Delta, and previous longtime resident of Provo, completed her life's journey May 28, 2013, in Delta. Born May 8, 1920 in Clear Creek, Utah, to Earl Heber and Loyas Ora Christensen Wilde. Early years spent in Hiawatha, Carbon County. Graduated Carbon High in Price, and attended BYU for 3 years, studying English and art. Emilie was a secretary, and began career at office of Kaiser Coal Mine in Sunnyside. Transferred to Kaiser Steel Corp. offices in Fontana, CA. At retirement, was secretary to forest supervisor of Uinta National Forest in Provo. Emilie loved literature and was a voracious reader. Hobbies she enjoyed, making porcelain dolls, including the clothes, and knitting. Was an excellent seamstress. A highlight of her life was having her grandson, Scott Thomas Chandler, live with her in Provo for 71/2 while he attended a Utah School for the Deaf and Blind extension in Orem. Also took care of her granddaughter, Michelle Todd Staley, several years while her mother worked. Life long and active member of LDS Church, holding various positions. A favorite church calling was singing in the choir.
Survived by daughter: Jamie Chandler of Kearns; son: Dr. Thomas Earl (Karen) Chandler of Delta; brother: Robert Earl (Renee) Wilde of Provo; grandson: Scott Thomas Chandler; and granddaughter: Jennifer Chandler of Delta; granddaughter: Michelle Todd (Joshua) Staley of Taylorsville; and great-grandson: Maxwell Joshua Staley. Preceded in death by parents: Earl and Loyas Ora Wilde.
Sincere thanks to Stephen W. Shamo, MD, and staff of Millard County Care Center for loving and professional care they gave to Emilie during last 41/2 years of her life.
